Using indood/outdoor for an entry. Carpet is 12' wide. Room is 8' wide.

Whats the easiest way to cut ~3' off while still rolled?
Trick question?

What’s the circumference of the roll?

What’s 3’ divided by the answer above?
No.
Thinking just keep running the carpet blade around the circumference ala pipe cutter.
Just start whacking on it with a steak knife, it’s going down onto a dirt floor anyway. grin
Essentially cutting a runner off without unrolling the piece first.

Don't let your carpet run.
Best to find somewhere you can in roll it, get a good square cut ,then roll it up again.
Roll it out where it is going with the excess up the wall and cut with the blade towards the wall. Will get some dug burns cutting that way but you will get rug burns eventually won't you?😏
Did you get a description of the guys that rolled you?
Are you going to stretch it?
The lord hates a coward fire up a chain saw and giver.

Or, wait for stx. to come by he prolly knows a trick or 3
Fing auto spell is driving me batshit! Have to disable it. Have to go back and edit every post I make😡😡😡
Don't assume you room is square. Your walls straight.
Roll it out, secure a factory side to the straightest wall and fallow the other wall, cutting the back of the carpet.

Negative. Replacing the stuff in the entry/laundry. Out/Indoor type.
I agree. Don’t cut carpet with a knife while you are rolled.

What firearms do you have available for said project?
unroll it and use a chalk line to cut it off, you won't get a strait cut with it rolled up.
Return the carpet and get vinyl plank.
If you take the time it takes, it takes less time.

I just wanted to make it easier by 4 feet to get it in the room to be able to do final fit.

find a place you can unroll it, unroll it and fold it into a configuration that can be carried in and layed out in the room then rough cut it into place, get it secured then do the final cut in by hand .

Clearly I overthought this. Here is all I wanted to do. Far easier than I expected.

So that I had an 8x16 to final fit @ 7’7 x 16’.

Used the blade you reco’d for cutting pad a few years ago Rog.
