I never heard of the Spanish Flu until I moved to Canada—in the middle 70’s. It was a topic of discussion right behind the Second World War and the Great Depression. Seems it hit some places worse than others—at least in the collective memory. Many of the men I met had served in the Second World War and many had served in Korea. Only commodity prices ever mentioned was Oil and Pulp wood.

My great grandfather was a extremely wealthy Rancher/Farmer in north Texas, who gave back huge amounts to help build the community around where he lived, and unfortunately, he lost his holdings to the Great Depression.

All of these huge downturns, could have been avoided, just like this unwarranted shut down of the economy. Middle class spends their lifetime to raise good moral children, who will grow to raise families to carry on the great traditions of this nation, and to have this unnecessary misery thrown in their faces again and again, is TREASON.

There are a tremendous amount of small business owners in the country, who love living the entrepreneur life, and are solid citizens and family patriarchs. Unfortunately they are forced to fight in a dog-eat-dog competitive world that has been forced upon them to the point they can barely survive in this corrosive business environment that government has created.

Many start a business without the business or financial knowledge needed to survive, as they jump head long into chasing their dreams. That is what gets so many, especially in the contractor circle, great technician, great ambition, but don't take the time to learn the business side, and not having seen the back office and what it takes to make the wheels turn from all sides, they learn as they go. A lot would rather scrape by, than work for the-man, which you can't blame them, after all, they have a right to chase that dream. It's the American way, or use to be, and just got more difficult, $2T.

RE: comments on debt, if I had my way, the country would have ZERO debt, and actually a surplus. But......previous politicians got us to where we are......in corporate America, many companies have some debt. Many spend CAPEX in hopes for an ROI.

As to this bill, the price IS astronomical I agree, likely Far excess of what COULD be spent to accomplish the means of saving America from an economic collapse. What is that number? I don't know, but surely not this price tag. If you need to repair your house or car what do you do? Figure out exactly what needs to be done, and pay that much, not more. The bill sure seems to have a ridiculous amount of money in it, when we do not really know the price for the solution.

As to draining the swamp, I believe Trump has been, and is the right President for the job. I cannot imagine anyone else doing better than he has, is, and will. Just MY opinion. Yes, he has spent money, military, etc. and more to do with infrastructure. I am VERY conservative btw.....and would love to see Every excess dollar squeezed out of our bloated government. Likely never to happen until if or when our country is 'bankrupt' - and at the trend we are on, that day may well come in coming years. I agree, putting this debt and all the national debt on future generations is a disservice to them, and not right. That said, I do not know how you avoid a financial collapse without the government stepping in to help the matters. I am not for bail outs. I would be for loans, that unlike GM, that would mandate the companies have to pay back 100%, not a penny less.

This pandemic has shown the world how fragile things really are when in just a few weeks, an unseen event has a once thriving nation and it's leaders on edge. God help us all if we ever get a REALLY big event of any kind......a major war, or disease like the plague, etc.

From my perspective, the truth of the matter is:

1) No one should consider this 3 day market gain any kind of success, victory, or end game. It is simply just volatile, and the chances we test Monday's lows are likely greater than this being the start of a new bull market. But 3 weeks ago we were a healthy economy, and we will be again.
2) $2 Trillion hopefully stops what was looking like a CRASH and DEPRESSION. Anything more "trillions" beyond that will have a HUGE impact on the next 3 generations of Americans, or more. Let's hope it does not come to that.
3) There will probably be more bad news for the next month or two. Some folks are going to die, and some business are going to go bankrupt. Markets will probably go down violently, and have a few great rebound days. Buy on the dips, dollar cost average after that, and hope that by mid-summer we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a great time to be a young investor!

I believe that today, right now, the world isn't coming to an end. And, these last 3 days aren't the beginning of a march to a 40,000 DOW, either.

It is going to be a turbulent couple of months, but I am more optimistic than I was 2 or 3 weeks ago, as more data is becoming available and it's becoming obvious this is an ACUTE, but not life-altering mass-casualty event.
