As of April 3rd (today) there are over 6,100 American dealths due to Covid-19.
Want to guess what this math shows in another month? In three more months? In 2020?

It's going to be many months and might be as long as 18-24+ months before the world can even begin to resume a 'new' normal. We have no vaccine. Experts say that Vaccine development will take another 18+months.

You are missing the point: Math tells us that the CDC death forecast is definitely going to be higher than your 80,000 dead Americans and before the end of 2020. It could also be far worse if people and states don't start practicing social distancing and enforcing more strict travel and 'shelter in place' rules.

According to the CDC, last year the US had 80,000 deaths related to the annual flu, an uptick from the typical 20K to 40K. I don't know the actual reason for the increase, other than the annual flu shot might not have been as effective.

That being said, the estimate for Covid-19 are 100K to 200K US deaths and that's after taking extraordinary measures. Assuming you don't consider 43% of the population getting an annual flu shot as extraordinary.

This is something to take seriously.

Well here's something interesting. The tracking map website (John Hopskins) is the one being used to track all the cases and it show all the active cases deaths but no recoveries in the US and Canada. But if you check other countries it shows how many have recovered??? What's up with that?

A shocked mother discovered a photo of her family in a Facebook video for a face mask that claimed most of the family members pictured had died of COVID-19.

The image, a professional photo of the Ancich family taken for a holiday card eight years ago, reportedly appeared in a video advertising a face mask that was placed on the social network.

Mom Sara Ancich told CBS that she was inundated with Facebook messages from concerned family members and friends after the video appeared. The video claimed that the family became victims of the coronavirus pandemic after attending a church service. It said that all but the youngest son had died of COVID-19, according to CBS.

The video describes a teenager's survival as a result of the face mask. The teen is falsely identified as a member of the Ancich family, CBS reports.



Facebook said that it has removed the video. "Our policies prohibit content that attempt to sell masks as a means of exploiting the crisis for financial gain," a Facebook spokeswoman said. "So we’ve already removed this video and have taken steps to keep people from sharing it.” Facebook explained that it did not run as an ad on the social network (meaning that someone paid for it to be distributed), but was posted as a video.

When the social network removed the video, it ensured that other shares that are visually similar to that video are detected and automatically prevented from being uploaded.

AFP Fact Check reports that the video, along with another version advertising the face mask, racked up over 1 million views on Facebook. “The misleading ads, which play heavily on fears with dramatic music in the background, have been viewed more than 1.1 million times on Facebook,” it writes.

CBS reports that while Sara Ancich said that the image was posted to social media years ago, it also showed up on several Pinterest boards following a reverse Google image search.

The videos advertised the same product linked to two different websites, which are both now unavailable, according to AFP Fact Check.

Gullibility is a larger problem than the media. That and the fact that most think that TV is a life source. I wish people would quit complaining about the media on the one hand, and cutting them a check each month with the other. Wanna stop the media? Quit feeding them.

Media sells advertising, not news. They report the news so as to appeal to the largest possible audience. The news is written and reported to maximize ad revenue and to not offend advertisers.

This is good for a chuckle. A newly released and supposedly scientific study reveals no bias in media reporting. I haven't read the study, but if I am reading this article right, the study was based on surveys of journalists themselves ("Biased? Who, me?") and something or another on Twitter.
