Cold front last night. Sunny today but 28 at sunrise. Moved my morning tee time to 1:00 pm. Sunny but 35 degrees and howling wind when I got there (it was 41 and calm at my house!) I played one hole and was cold to the bone. Gave up. Keeeristo it was miserable out there. Rest of the week looks no better. Same conditions Tuesday, heavy rain Weds, snow Thursday, clear and cold/windy again Friday.

My way of getting a little spousal separation is blown to heck this week.

RockyRaab: I am sorry your day was a "flop".
I hope you got some of your grounds fees' reimbursed.
But this - are you going over to the "dark side" (thats what many of us in the Hunting/gunning community refer to "golf/golfers as)?
I am just funnin ya.
I am the middle of three brothers and both my brothers are ardent and enthusiastic golfers - and they are pretty good at it and have golfed from Hawaii to Florida and most states in between.
Thankfully the golfing gene passed me over.
The high here in SW Montana has been 27 so far - it was 11 at sunrise and the grass is still quite dormant at this altitude.
Better luck soon for you - the cabin fever is gettin to us all.
Hold into the wind

I'd think it's like fishing for me. If it's not fun, don't do it.

I'm pretty sure that's how substance abuse problems start.

Voice of experience?

Light snow, howling winds here. Methinks you'd have a course to yourself.

I enjoy golf and play regularly, and usually hit floating golf balls into our pond daily. But some days are made for golf and some days are not. And you're having a run of them that are not this week.

Are them birds turning south again?

You'll likely be OK in a day or two. The birds are rarely wrong.

Finally talking about something you have experience with I see.

Played a couple times last week, local course is in horrible shape, but better than sitting on the couchn e-mail from a western Missouri course I play on occasion that they were closing for the foreseeable futre. Lots of courses having hard times in this mess.

Musta been like hitting rocks...
Do they make special cold weather balls?

Golf is for people who can’t fish.

I had a similar experience at work this morning.

It's been pretty nice lately, highs in the 40-60F range.

The kind of weather where I don't need anything over my ears and no gloves.

Dad calls me at 6:30 this morning and says he needs help getting a newborn calf into the hotbox.

I had just woke up and didn't even look at the weather forecast before heading out the door.

About 8 o'clock my ears and fingers were fricken' burning with the wind. I was thinking what the fuuck, it feels cold out this morning!

And with the wind it was cold for no gloves or hat. 13F and a nice 20-30mph breeze to really soak it in. Wind had kicked to 40mph this afternoon.

I'd rather light my nose hair on fire than play a round of golf.

Jeff, golf aside I wouldn't have went outside this morning for the fun of it.

About 20 years ago around this time of year me and a buddy spent two weeks of beautiful weather cooped up with work. Come the first weekend we could we were playing golf no matter what. Well, Friday night a norther blew in and on Saturday morning the windchill was -8. Stupidly we determined to play. Amazingly, the course was open and we played. We were, of course, the only ones there and we finished. It was memorable.

My dad and I were hard bit with golf when I was a kid. One Sunday after church we were determined to play, the inch or two of snow on the ground notwithstanding. It wasn't the cold that drove us off the course, you just couldn't find a ball after a shot even if you watched it carefully and took note of where it looked like it went. I don't recall whether we ever even made it to the first green. Now that I think of it, I wonder if the greens had been swept free of snow, or something, because there's no way you could ever putt through an inch of snow. That was 50 years ago and I just don't remember.

Sounds like code for ".. be subjected to a Tabasco fueled Dutch Oven"...

I play once in a while, not enough time.
