That assualt pack is what we all of lived out of from late march 03 till late may 03 when we flew north to mosul, then our long term A bags caught up with us.
Water, chow, schitloads of ammo/ c4 system components/ grenades/ star clusters/ flares/ 1st aid components, nvds, batteries, couple tshirts, 4 pr socks, pers hygeine stuff, tobacco products, chubby treats.
72 to 96 hr resupply push forward to ya.

Then Mosul for 7 months.

The only black rifle I have, a Southern Mountain style rifle, appropriate for the Alamo period and location. .50 cal Rice (??) barrel, large Siler lock, double set triggers with a superlight hair trigger.

Built by an expert from a mismanaged, half finished kit. Iron furniture, silver blade front site, skillfully poured pewter nosecap.

Linseed.beeswax/soot finish, The only real complaint is there's no buttplate on the stock, "Poor Boy" style. The butt of the stock is so smooth and rounded it slips easily off of the shoulder, distracting when shooting, don't ever have a rifle made without a buttplate. And the Siler lock is more of an 1780's lock than an 1830's one, minor detail and old stuff got reused.

Possibly, all I got is an iphone hotspot, but other than Photobucket, the other image hosting sites just open right up.

Alright, if I have time tomorrow I'll pull out my vintage 1994 Remington 700 ADL in........ .270 for pics.

It has a nice light surface rust from it's couple of years in South Carolina (I call it patina) and still wears the original tupperware stock, but it shoots straight and has killed a LOT of critters.

It is now my dedicated antelope rifle, so gets shot about every 3 years when I pull a rifle tag.

We have tactical beavers in these parts.

I know some fellas just love a tactical beaver or two.

They'll take about any kind of beaver though. Especially after a 12 pack or so.

This here was the only black rifle I had, useful for so many applications, hey I could reload it fast enough to miss a clay a second time easy

And my son absolutely swelling with pride when I let him carry it beginning age six is one of my fondest memories Five lbs all-up weight and a stock kids could handle.

...and sitting around in the shade numerous times, empty beverage can on a rock 100+ yards out, passing it around for idle potshots between friends and conversation, one shot per turn, the one who wins hadda go reset the can...

...and having it around on all those camping trips Back East, in places where handguns are a felony. Sure was comforting having it close at hand when we ran into some meth heads in the woods up by the Connecticut Lakes of NH. Snapped it together in motel rooms up there more'n a few times too. Slept next to it on the floor of a tent many times.

Surprisingly decent trigger pull for what it was, and on that one, quite by chance, the two barrels were regulated in the same vertical plane, use the base of the front sight blade as the front sight with slugs and both .22lr and a 20ga slug were both about on at 50 yards. A 20 gauge slug is about like some .44 magnum rounds, except it makes a .60 cal hole going in. And with slugs, a paper plate was in actual peril at 100 yards once ya figured out the drop

Thirty years later my son has it now, so his little girl can shoot it.

Still feels odd not having one at hand, I'm guessing I'm gonna find another one, one of these years, currently clean ones go for $500 - $800 on Gunbroker.

The birdshot makes it a singleshot. No rapid fire. Need to buy a revolver and go all cowboy on them. I limit it to mostly daylight hours to keep from waking the only neighbor up.

Retired as a w4 MTP for 2/17th around 2012

I just said the barrel aint long enough to use the gas to push the bolt and the springs in the receiver are too heavy for a short barrel.

Told me a couple months later they ordered lighter springs and the guns work.

My bud said he drew his own PIP/ crosshairs with a grease pencil on the bubble and would kentucky windage off it, wipe it off to adjust it when he figured out were his wpns package was generally hitting if he had the time.

Yes, There was a sliding aluminum box tube that connected the ammo feed to the feeder/delinker.
Windage with pedals and elevation by stick, though there was a toggle on the control stick that let one adjust elevation trim. It was slow and never used for aiming.
J-tube is part of the cooling system that was unnecessary after we ditched the fiberglass cowling.
Grease pencil on the cockpit glass works. Did it in the Cobra but had little need for that with the -6.
You ain't heard loud until you have that thing belching a couple feet from your left knee.

Have had plenty of Apaches overhead 50 75 ft laying down fire with 30mm chain gun.
Blast a constant vibrating even at that distance.
Cant imagine what it would be like from a mini gun 2 or 3ft directly in front of its muzzles.

You hearing has gotta be bad.
Mine is toast from a couple decades of exposure.

Tula been reported to have squib loads at times also.

If the shooter can do their part.
Accurate for an AK with irons.
Slide confirmed out to 300.
Done some trigger assembly polishing on it.
Little file and chucked drill work to narrow up front sight to round instead of square.
Made the U notch in rear sight a little wider to eliminate side blur in sight picture also helped make front post little more crisp.
Bout it....
Kinda thought about wood stock set
250 to 300 bucks....
Better spent on ammo.
If gunshows open back up , I might run into a set for a milled gun someday, then I can haggle.
