Sturm-Ruger stock is up 10% today. In the last 3 or 4 months, it's gone from 6"ish" to almost 10. I think this is a very positive sign for those of us who like guns and hunting. It's an indication that perhaps the gun market is not as "dead" as we thought. All the complaints about marketing techniques notwithstanding, healthy gun manufacturers are good for us! Thoughts?

They got new President over Ruger, hope it works out, but stock thing "usually" vote of confidence, as he come from marketing oriented business. His announcement sounded a bit like some changes for Ruger, of course, with the required lip service to continue as Bill, Sr. did with his genius.

Time will tell I guess.

I'm happy when any gunmaker is showing stability...after S&W got bent over the rail by Evil Interests, and Winchester closing, it looked increasingly bad..this is good news! What is Colt doing?

On the face of it, it's a positive thing for sure--if you're a shooter.

You need to remember that Ruger is not just guns, they make several different product lines(ie; golf clubs) for different companies.

They do (or perhaps did) cast club heads for some of the well-known brands, but that is a relatively small piece of the pie. On a lark I bought some a few years back and have generally not done very well with it. It has been fun and informative reading the stuff they send out. Anyway, casting parts for other companies is a pretty small part of the business. Their profits rise and fall with gun sales.

With winchester and colt, out of the way, they better be making some profit. They should be banking some of it too, in case the dems are voted back in.

Ruger is no doubt the most profitable domestic gun company. Helluva good product with a reasonable price. No magic there. I love my Rugers. Go Ruger.

I am glad to hear they are doing well!! Lord know's we don't need any more bad news right now in the firearms industry!!

Last I looked Ruger had *no* long-term debt, and I read somewhere that they are the 2nd largest firearms manufacturer (by volume sold) in the US, where remington is 1st.

I am delighted to see them doing well.

Hope this new president isn't a cave in to the anti gunners like Bill was. I sold almost all my Rugers due to his antics(though I just can't live without the Mk2, 10-22 and the horrible desire for one #1).

Caving in, IMHO, strictly due to profit, is no true friend to the 2nd amendment or those of us out here.

Glad to hear they are doing well though.
