My wife is afflicted with some sort of connection between her sense of hearing and her muscle response. Anytime a commercial (I know) comes on the television, her hand automatically grasps the remote and turns down the sound because it is TOO LOUD. The bad part of this affliction is that it somehow renders her totally incapable of turning the sound back up after the commercial is over and the program returns. (Again, I know!)

She's using the wrong grip. Coach her so she develops the more common reflex (among men anyway) of changing channels when a commercial comes on.

Or maybe it's like the way toilet paper gets hung or which way the bread twisty goes and we're all just stuck with it.

women have no business handling the remote controls or adjusting the thermostat
Most women shouldn’t operate anything more complicated than the toaster. 🤠

The really simple solution is get a second remote. His and Hers.

It does seem like the commercials are louder than the regular programming. Enable closed captioning.

We watch it later on Netflix without commercials.
