BOCA CHICA, Texas — The SpaceX Starship SN4 prototype exploded on Friday shortly after an engine test.

The rocket exploded at 1:49 p.m.

According to reports, the sound of the fiery blast shook cars and made car alarms go off.

The fire continued well over two hours after the initial explosion.

SpaceX Boca Chica last had an explosion occur in February when the Starship SN1 suffered a cryogenic explosion.

No injuries are reported at this time.

No information is available at this time on what caused the rocket to explode.

If God meant for people to ....
No, it is NOT the same thing. These are test articles in the development of follow-on vehicles to the Falcon 9. None of these test articles will ever carry people.
That's gotta be a setback.
Evidently the scale was off and its not temperature insensitive.

I trust Rocky when it comes to this stuff.
I bet that the few folks left in the village of BocaChica have some shattered windows to fix.
If my ole truck catches fire I’ll jump out. 😂

I’ve never been in an airplane.

Helicopters a bunch. Made me feel safe, autogyrate.
Better to get it blown up now so they can correct the design flaws than to try and figure out why it blew up on a mission.
Unfortunate, discouraging and expensive.

But no one hurt, and hopefully they’ll get the next oversized R2D2 to fly right....
No no! I said Bud Light

I knew a guy who was a medic in Vietnam, he's gone down four times in choppers. He wouldn't get in a fixed-wing, he said they needed too much room to crash.
I don't know how he got home; did they use ships to transport returning GIs? Maybe the desire to get home overrode his fear.
Lemme get my tennis ball cannon and a squirt bottle of lighter fluid. Meet you down at the border. Bring some star clusters.
I’ve flown once. Huey. Houston Air. Red birds
There's a reason for that "rocket scientist" term...
