Surprisingly, I have a friend who lives in Bellevue WA, who told me that he knows of a number of neighborhoods that basically did something similar. It's surprising because if you're not familiar with that area, it a wealthier predominantly liberal city. People are getting wise to the fact that the government cannot or will not protect them when politics are involved.
