Looking to replace the j-lock bolt shroud on a Rem 700 along with all internal parts and springs. Looking around at all the options/choices and interested in opinions from guys that have already done this. Rifle is a first gen Ti in 7mm-08. Thanks in advance...
Gre-Tan makes a great replacement.

OEM Remington or PT&G s/s pin assy.

Speed lock aluminum shank firing pins in a Remington are a line of BS.
This is the Gre-Tan I’ve used.

Isn’t the speed lock more a David Tubb thing?
The last Pacific Tool and Gauge replacement firing pin assembly I received from them didn't have the slot in the cocking piece. My normal method of sticking a dime in the slot to hold the pin back wasn't possible. PTG said to send it back and they would cut a slot for me. I didn't want to wait so I ordered a firing pin tool. Somewhat of an annoyance but be forewarned.
Go to Midwest Arms, get whole factory assembly for about $80, end of story.

Would that be Midwest Gun Works?
The PT&G replacement bolt is a nice upgrade. A bit pricey compared to just the shroud but a classier way to go. Is it more accurate? I am sure it is but with my shooting skills can't really say, but it sure feels and looks better.
