What would cause the firing pin to stay stuck in the fired position?
After putting one cartridge in the cylinder rotated the cylinder and the cartridge head hung up on the firing pin because it was protruding out. Tried to push it in with a screwdriver blade and it would not budge
I removed the firing pin retaining pin and had to tap out the firing pin with a dowel, the firing pin spring did not seem out of whack.

Is the pin peened or slightly bent where the retaining pin cut is? I’ve seen several firing pins in 500s and 460s melted and eroded due to pierced primers.

I haven't pierced any primers, it must be bent but I don't know how. What are you referring to when you say peened

Either mushroomed out on the back where the hammer strikes it, similar to how a much used cold chisel will get. Or a burr thrown up on one end of the other of the cutout for the retaining pin, likely due to contacting the retaining pin.

It's like a little slot,
there seems to be some corrosion or something on the firing pin itself Maybe, guess I'll go back and look at my fire cases Maybe I miss the pierced primer
