...after getting the ramp (and maybe the sight blade) blacknitrided? I have to take off the Williams ramp off the barrel because it's held on with low temperature solder. I think there might be some difficulty pushing the front sight back into the ramp dovetail if they have both been hardened by the "flash nitriding" H & M uses for small parts. I'd like all the parts to match color, but it won't matter if I can't put the sight back together. Anyone been down this road before?
They’ll go back together. Worst case you need a new blade.

Just FYI. If your blade has a brass bead it’ll likely be dull and discolored, aluminum ones will dissolve. If it’s a fiber optic consider that the tiny “hoops” the fiber goes through will be extremely brittle and with snap or crumbled the first time you bump it.
Thanks; it's a plain steel blade. H & M are pretty straightforward about saying "only steel" parts. I suppose I could take a fine triangular stone to the dovetail if it doesn't want to push in normally.
Be easier and safer to cut the sight than the barrel.
Always cut the cheaper/replaceable part given a choice.

You're right. I have another front blade.
