I would like some details.
That could make an interesting ohio legal project

I can’t pm yet but I would gladly give any info as I can.

Neat rifle. I did one in 500 sw

I had been wanting a 45-70 for a while and had the Mosin–Nagant sitting around so why not. Ordered a barrel and started machining.
I believe someone was building 444s and 4570s on Lee Enfield actions a few years ago. Im sure the recoil was horrible
Yeah, I like the concept. Wonder if the .038" larger rim dia will be a problem?

On a Mosin–Nagant action? Yes have to open bolt face, mag well, and bottom of the receiver. But not to bad.

Recoil isn’t bad on this but I think the brake and a different stock has a lot to do with it.
I hadn't seen that conversion before but sounds like a good idea.
I have converted Mosins to single shot: 45/70, 45 Colt, 30-30, and 223.
I have converted Mosin to repeaters: 7mmRM, 300WM, and 25 Krag Ackley.
I am in the process of converting a mosin to 6.5x54r Vostok for the 2021 hunt.
I converted a Mosin to 45/70 over 10 years ago and noted this other link. Now we can right click in Chrome and get a translation to English.

Not my cup of tea but I am impressed with your effort to do it. Looks like a great job making something that you want, which is all that really matters. I don't know an incredible amount about the 45-70, but have heard that factory loads have to be kept at marginal pressures to ensure compatibility with older firearms. Handloading is another story I am told. The last THREE times I was in a shop looking for reloading supplies some random person beside me struck up a conversation about "man, I just cannot find anything for the 45-70". To me it was surreal because it was three different people in different shops yet the same conversation! I had no idea it was so popular around here (SW TN).
Would like to hear more about your build and any challenges you overcame making it.
Really nice. I've saw one and am still kicking myself for not buying it. It had to have been someone's gun smithing school project with the level of work that was in it. barrel band sights, decent wood with really nice fleur checkering, and very good bluing. So one has been on my list of projects to try
I would say it turned out really well. It’s not something I’m interested in, but it’s definitely well done. Hope it’s a shooter.
