One of my boy scouts was given an older Mossberg 500 20 gauge having the tang safety with a broken safety. The dad asked me if I could fix the safety......I said "I'll try".

I have removed the trigger group, bolt etc and baffled as to how the inside the receiver metal tab attached to the safety button engages the rear portion of the trigger group. There is a protruding metal tab above the rear of the trigger group which after looking at Mossberg 500 schematics appears correct.

Any idea's...i can send pics.

Note the parts and their relation to each other.. But my main question is: what's 'broken'? Does the button move (with only some resistance) back and forward OK? Bringing it back to 'safe' should result in the full impairment of the trigger.. The part labeled #14 must come into contact with the upper post of part #65 (IIRC) which will then prevent the trigger's movement..
Thank you...Lee

Evnin! If the safety button itself is broken brownels have steel ones instead of the pot metal one originally. Good luck. Bill. πŸΎπŸ‘£πŸΎπŸ‘£πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦
