I have a M/1889 Marlin lever gun in .44-40 (BP) with a broken firing pin. We have tried a half-dozen different variations of pins described as 1889-model firing pins, and all are too short. I hate to relegate this to wall-hanger status. Anyone have any idea where I can get a genuine replacement for this relic? Thanks.
Have you posted in the marlin forum below?
Don't know but try here (if you haven't).
Wisner's

Thanks for the reference. Just looked it up, and the firing pin for the '89 is the same as for the '93 and '94, and this part will not fit (too short). This is the problem; there were apparently two or three designs for the 1889 rifle with different firing pins.
Jack if you get frustrated w/the old gun and want to sell it let me know. powdr
Thanks, nighthawk, for your good info. Contacted Wisners, and he had just run out of the "correct" 1889 firing pins. He is now machining a new batch and will ship mine in 2-3 weeks. Wisner's is a great source for old parts for Winchester, Marlin, etc.
