Question for those in the know: Would a Sako L61 Barrel fit an AV action, or are they just a little different?
I have 3 Sako L61 factory barrels and am trying to make one, maybe two extra rifles.
Thanks for your help!
I believe the thread dia. and pitch is the same, though I am not sure about the tenon length or relief for the extractor. Probably more variation between individual actions than these two types. Any good smith can make one of your barrels work, I know because I had a L W pre chambered and threaded for an L61 that I put on an A V. It's now the sweetest shooting 338 RUM you could imagine.
Can anyone provide the thread dimensions for the action/barrel for a Sako L61R?
I am attempting to thread and install a shilen barrel on a Sako
L61R.
Thanks
Unless you have a Sako Action that has Metric Threads then it should be 1.050 x 16.. You need to check the pitch and thread dimensions with a thread gauge.
I dont know for that action but I know the barrel off a m75 "IV" action size will fit a m85 "M-meduim" sized action...the Tenon is the same..just need a gunsmith to verify headspace.

Why not just measure the action for these, it ain't that hard.
