Trigger housing slot needed to be widened for The Marlin trigger and safety, and lengthened a bit forward to clear the adjustment. Barrel grove was inletted for barrel nut and the channel widened a slght bit at the rear for a slightly wider Marlin barrel. Recoil lug recess moved forward about 1/4 inch.

There will need to be lots of glass bedding done to support the recoil lug and the action at the front and rear screws, as the XL7 is round while the M70 has a flat bottom.

This was done as an exercise to see if it was reasonable to use a M70 stock on the Marlin. In the process I discovered the M70 bottom metal fits the XL7. The Ramline stock is a little taller at the rear than the XL7 stock and neither rear screw is long enough.

Now I would not hesitate to use a high grade M70 synthetic stock on the XL7 but a wood stock may require more care.

Good for you. I thought that would work after your original picture showing the 3 actions. Wonder if they made the XS7 the same length as a SA Md 70?
