Who would you recommend for accuracy work in Michigan, lower peninsula? Either a glass bedding job, or a rebarrel/action truing/bedding job on a Model 70 is what I have in mind. Would rather support smiths in my state...no offense to others.

Any reviews on Red Oak gunsmithing? He is in my area, but I have not heard anything.

thanks

Call Bob's Gun Shop in Alpena, he might know of someone.

John Pierce of Pierce Engineering (http://www.pierceengineeringltd.com/) just rebarreled a Model 70 and a Vanguard for me. He mostly works with Rem 700s or his own actions and he is well known in competitive circles. He did a fine job on the metal and I did an acceptable job on the stock.

Dwight Scott is in Eaton Rapids and is regarded by many as one of the best benchrest smiths in the country. I have been told he works on sporting rifles for Saeed that owns www.accuratereloading.com.

Yep, Dwight built a few custom rifles for Saeed and went hunting with him. Thing is Dwight has quite a backlog. There's a smith up by Hubbard Lake who's suppose to be pretty good though I don't know of anyone who has used his services. He shoots at Iosco Sportsmans Club (Wurtsmith Range).

John Pierce does real quality work and I could highly recommend him. Dwight Scott does not do any stockwork anymore. He is just covered up with BR barreling and accuracy metal work related to BR things. I think Dwight is a good as you will find. He does run a long way behind this time of year.

I've used Erik at Red Oak 5-6 times and been very happy with the results. Nothing as complicated as a complete accurizing job (yet). I think you would be happy with his work or i belive he would work with you until you are. He's a good honest young man with a lot more experince than his age shows. When Dick ran his own shop it was top notch, now due to age he doesn't do much anymore and it is NOT. Guy
