I just got my Remington model 7 bolt back from a gunsmith who replaced the J Lock shroud with a non j lock shroud. The new shroud won't slide past the safety so it's obviously the wrong one. I see the j lock shroud has a flat machined on it to allow it to go past the safety. Are all model 7's this way? Did the smith install a model 700 bolt shroud on it? Any help in figuring out what went wrong is appreciated.

I see a lot of model 700 replacement assemblies for the j lock for sale but I can't find a model 7 equivalent. Any help?

Thanks

Yes, I think the smith installed a 700 shroud. All my Sevens have the flat milled in the side. You may be able to file/mill the shroud flat on the side if need be.

I'd get a new smith myself.
Thanks

The link here won't work, any current shroud replacement solutions?

Thanks in advance...
