I want to coat a fluted barrel leaving the flutes in the white. What is the best way? I thought maybe I could paint it with krylon then sand it in the lathe as if I wanted to color the flutes. Then spay the whole barrel with ceracoat hoping that the ceracoat in the flutes would peel off after baking.
According to their website, you don't have to bake it. Maybe blue masking tape?
Patience, blue Scotch Tape not the cheap stuff and some very sharp razor blades. I'd use an exacto knife. I have some of the air dry stuff that I'm going to try one of these days. Let us know how it works out. Ken
Fill the flutes with modeling clay. It is rather easy to do and it works great. Clean the flutes with alcohol so the clay will stick, cut the excess with a sharp something and paint it.
Rusky, Can you clean the clay off the part that needs coating without disrupting the clay embedded in the flutes?
