I recently took in a brand new Schneider barrel on trade. It is a .224 rem. varmint contour with manufacturers cut fluting. What can you tell me about the rifling, good? bad?

I believe that Shilen offered polygon rifle barrels for a short time several years ago. I wasn't aware that they are currently available, not sure what the benefits claimed are. Though if they were really superior you'd think that Shilen would have continued production.

IIRC Pacnor still does them...

According to Ed Shilen They are using it in the rimfire barrels only and only the competition ones.
