I have a Sportsman 78 that has decided to quit feeding properly. I load the cartridges and everything seems fine then I shuck one off and all is well, eject and try to pick up the next and it doesn't catch the base just goes over the top. If I start fidgeting with it, then the nose of the cartridges take a dive toward the bottom of the mag box. I pulled it apart and checked the spring steel, looks fine, doesn't appear to be bent in a strange way. I looked to make sure the follower was on the spring steel correctly and it is slid all the way down on the spring, there is a line where the metal is stamped that appears to be where the spring steel is supposed to stop.
What should I do, Order a new one from Brownells in hopes that mine is just worn out?

I bought the rifle used 15 years ago, so I'm not sure how old it is!
Mike

Mike,
Without putting the eyeball on it,I would guess your mag spring took a set,or isn't seated in the follower recess properly.
Anybody else??????
good luck!
E4E
------------------
Remove the mechanical variables, and then you can only blame yourself!
