I ran across a company that makes a very low profile trigger and bottom metal. It only takes 2 down, but results in a stock that is much thinner than average. I called and asked if they sold said system, and they said the do not.
Mule deer mentioned that with a little work a military mauser trigger could be worked into a great trigger. What I'm wondering is if you could cut some metal out of the middle of the trigger and then weld it back together, then cut down bottom metal and follower spring accordingly. I'd bet you could knock of a pound or two as a result.

Here is the company

This is regarding the g33 i just picked up, I'm making a pattern stock, and i don't think i would be very difficult to adapt the stock demensions to a cut down trigger guard.

Check out Gun Digest 2000 pg 38 "Straight Grip Stalking Rifles" by Ken Ide. All about reduced magazine capasity rifles using cut down trigger guards. The 03 Springfield, '36 Mex and a '08 Brazilian 98. I have one of those Kesselerin triggers and its a dandy. I can't figure out if I want a trigger guard or just the ADL type internal box. I think the author knocked off a 3/8" or 1/2" off the top of the TG box, slimmed it quite a bit. Kesslerin wouldn't sell or ship parts outside Europe-Austria after 9-11
Good Luck

lol, it was a WAG that apparently was way off.

I think i'm going to try it on some other military bottom metal just to see if i can.
ernie lembrecht, a deceased gunsmith i knew, had the same idea many years ago. he made full size working drawings of the metal work and stock. he never completed a gun so we never determined the weight but it sure made a trim, almost petite, rifle. i wish i had been able to get the drawings after he died but it was not to be.
RJH, was the gist of the article that it could be done? and if you are ever trying to sell that trigger, I'm your guy! That trim style is very interesting, full scale drawings would be awesome shooter42. i'm going to do a full scale drawing of the stock before i start playing with bondo.

In the article, the author made the three rifles stated, with photos included. They look a little weird and I guess they really feel different because they are so thin around the middle. Rifle Basic use to make a shortened trigger for the Rem Model Seven but stopped a while ago, along with a stockmaker in NC who made the reduced stock for the Model Seven. Send me your email in a PM and I'll try to scan the GD article if you want.
