I bought a replacement wood stock several years ago for my Howa 1500 in .300 Win Mag. At the time that I bought it, it was supposedly for a LA gun. I'm just now getting to where I want to put it on, but the action holes aren't lining up. The hole for the recoil lug on the stock is about a 1/2" short for the action. Otherwise, the action drops right in. Could it be that this in inletted for a SA gun instead? The distance between the holes on the stock is 7 3/8". The distance between the holes on the action is 7 3/4".

Thanks!
Chris
My short action Howa measures approximatly 7 3/8 and my long action Weatherby Vanguard approximatly 7 7/8. I say approximatly because I took a quick measurement with a tape measure. But it does sound like you have a short action stock.
That's what I thought..........thanks!

Will be posted in the classifieds.....nice stick of wood!
