Are there some specific guidelines for what pitch measurement is desirable for conventional scoped bolt action rifle stocks? I'm going to be restocking a .22 rimfire and a .30-'06. I know that pitch affects perceived recoil, so that it is more critical in the centerfire guns. I want to have both of them fit me as well as possible. I'm pretty clear on what I need for length of pull, trigger-to-gripcap and drop at comb, but correct pitch is a little more mystifying.

Thanks!
Your chest shape will effect the pitch needs for you and the way you do the majority of shooting. A thin chested man who leans forward in his shooting stance will need more positive pitch (longer toe) whereas a heavy chested man who stands upright may need negative pitch ( shorter toe)
You can do a trial by loosening the recoil pad screws and inserting a small wedge under the top or bottom of the pad to simulate pitch changes and see what suits you body shape and shooting style.
