Will someone measure and post the CTC distance for the guard screws on a 1903 Springfield? Plus or minus 1/16" is close enough.
I am trying to determine if it is feasible to use that assembly on a 1917 Enfield action. Comments?

Many Thanks,
RWO
Best I can measure it's about 7.75 inches.
7.75" is correct.
7.75" as well.
As far a my memory serves me, I think the 03 TG needs to be lengthened in the neighborhood of 5/16". I wish I could get the specs closer but that is all I can recall.
Mauser bottom metal is easier to rework. Especially if you cut that stupid drop tang off of the receiver and weld a new one one. Makes it nicer for stocking too. Duane Weibe also makes some nice bottom metal for the enfield as well, not that bad priced either compared to other custom metal since there is no intigral mag box.

The rear guard screw on a 1903 Springfield is angled making it hard to measure. DO you want the distance at the action or at the bottom metal, they are different.
