I just picked up a Remington 7600 in 30-06 with standard 22" barrel. I'd like to make it into a carbine with 18.5" and have the front sight reinstalled. Trying to find someone local to do it but have not found someone yet. Wondering what I should expect to pay for a service like this or if anyone on here can do it. Figure it shouldn't be too tough of a job.
Thanks

Shouldn't cost more than $75.00 to shorten, re-crown and re-position the front sight. Might want to stick with a pro, though. PM if I can help.

$5 for a hacksaw and some gorilla glue wink
A good bit of set up and machining for the work. I say $75 is on the low side. If you get quality work for 75 then you scored. If your rifle is hacked when you get it back, well....

Yeah, a plumber will charge twice that to change a washer.
