I'm thinking of having my Husqvarna .30-06 rebarreled. Will the 9.3X62 feed through the action OK our should I go with a 9.3-06? Thanks...Bill.

Cant see why not, very little difference in case shape. Can you get your hands on a few 9.3x62 cases and try -it to be 110%?

Check first. I've converted some pre-64 30-06 to 9.3x62 and sometimes it required some minor feeding work to the rails.

I'd avoid the 9.3-06. Do the slight feeding work if necessary to get the 9.3x62.

I just converted my Savage 110 from 30-06 to .35 Whelen. It seems to me a better conversion with almost identical ballistics while ammo is readily available. Accuracy was outstanding with no work to the stock other than opening up the barrel channel for the heavier barrel. 1 1/2 inch groups with both 200 and 250 gr. slugs.

The 9,3x62 is basically a 9,3x06 improved. If it feeds one it will feed the other. The 9,3x62 is also a classic cartridge popular worldwide, why have a wildcat that isn't as good as the original? Try Lapua brass in the 9,3x62 and you'll be glad you made Otto Bock proud.............DJ

I'm yet another vote for the standard 9.3x62 Mauser, as it (depending on what you load) will do well for everything from TX jackrabbits/foxes/bobcat to elephant.

I would take neither love nor money for my 9.3x62mm Remington Model 760, as reformatted by JES. = It's GREAT.
(In the event of financial calamity, my 2 Model 760 in .300SAV & in 9.3x62mm would be the very last to be sold, to stave off starvation.)

First off, why mess with a wildcat that will yield inferior performance. Custom Dies all cost you more than any feed work that may be required. When it comes to rebarreling in a different cartridge, nothing is ever a given despite all the slam dunk answers you hear.

That said, it is an easy conversion in the grand scheme of things and one that is well worth doing.

What you should pay attention to is the Magazine. The 62 is wider at the shoulder and your magazine should be adjusted accordingly so that your cartridges stack correctly. Failure to do so often results in only four down instead of five and can contribute to less than stellar feeding.

I had a husky 640 rebarelled to 9.3. It fed the same before and after. Easy peasy.

While I don’t yet have a 9.3x62 and I have 3 or 4 rifles very close in performance to a 9.3x62 I’d also go with the 9.3x62, given those two choices. Especially if I planned on going to Africa.
There’s no flies on the 35 Whelen, especially if you handload and you were to stay in the states. Since I have a few 35 caliber molds, I would also consider the Whelen.
I still hope to get to Africa at my advanced years and if I didn’t have a 375, the choice would be easy — 9.3x62. I don’t plan on shooting at anything Bigger or meaner than the Cape Buffalo.
But since I have a nice 375. I’m pretty sure that I’ll choose the 375. If I were to be carrying either a 9.3x62 vs. 35 Whelen going for Cape, I’d choose the 9.3.

I would base the choice on the 9.3x62 solely on John Barseness’ praise of the 9.3, not personal experience.
