Thinking of rebarelling a Montana.

Would like to either make a 6.5 SAUM out of an 8400 or possibly a 6.5-284 on a 84L.

Ive heard alot of Smith's won't work on Kimber.

Anyone here point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Kimbers are not my favorite to rebarrel but I just charge more for the extra machining. Be glad to talk to you about the 6.5-284. PM me.

No big deal on them, finished one up about two months ago.

Dave Bruno in Dayton, Pa did a Kimber rebarrel for me. Worked out great. Have had him do a couple others also with the same results.

Thank you, when I figure out which way I'm going to go we'll talk.

Thanks, I'll look into him as well when the time comes.

What makes rebarreling a Kimber any more difficult than say a pre-64 or Classic Winchester?

Pac-nor all the way.

I had a monumentally bad experience with a Montana and the @#$!! company that sells it. Mark Penrod corrected the problem including the rebarrelling. I was happy with his work.

Have a Kimber with Adam at Dresden Gun Company at this time. Waithing on a barrel.

Please elaborate, what extra machining is required verses a M70?

Send it to PacNor and be done with it

Pac-Nor did mine. It shoots great.

Mine will become a 6.5 SAUM/GAP next... I think that's a great idea, OP.

Extractor cut it the only extra machining I can think of?

Sorry to be slow in responding. The Kimbers are similar to pre-64 and Classic M-70's, coned breach and extractor cut.
