Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have an aluminum 1911 frame I would like to have re-anodized.

Thx,
Todd

I don't know but search the net. It is an acid process to remove surface oxides so dye will take. Brownel's sells a spray to duplicate the color.

Are you looking to do it yourself, or have it done? I've done a few small parts (non-firearm) in the past in my shop using a battery charger, distilled water and RIT dye.

Any particular color, or just black?

Products for industry Inc., in Saegertown Pa does several colors with a good turn around.

I have had good service from http://www.usanodizing.com/ They do both type III hard anodizing( like an AR15) and type II decorative anodizing( typcal for most firearms)

I had the front strap on an aluminum frame checkered and am looking to have it refinished.

Black would be just fine with me, and I would like the type III hard anodizing.

Thanks guys.

Depends on the alloy of Aluminum. All aluminum can't be hard anodized, just certain alloys. Check with your plating shop.

Do they have a minimum? What do they get for 1 part?

Never mind, I see they have a price list.

I've used Gleco Plating for about 40yrs. In Rowlett, Texas. http://www.glecoplating.com/
They had a fire a month or so ago and I do not know if they have rebuilt.
I'm using Cimcon now. My buddy that ran the Gleco plant is at Cimcon now.

I believe all have a minimum and I usually take 150 small parts at a time and am charged the minimum of $125. My parts are soft anodized. Sometimes you can piggyback on somebody's order.

I used to use a place called Apex Anodizing. It’s been a while so I don’t know about minimum orders but they might be worth a google.
