looking, without much luck, for a tang safety ruger 22=250 barrel, is there any other threaded barrels that will interchange in that old of a gun???
looking for a take off, unfired, or fired very little, varmit or med sporter would be best...............thanks Jim

You are aware of the accuracy reputation of the ranger barrels.

Inconsistent, with some being downright junk.

Unless you are hung up on having a Ruger barrel,
ER Shaw is your huckleberry, if you want to make it
A 22-250 on the cheap.

Remington takeoff barrels are quite common not so with Ruger barrels. The OD of a Rem 700 thread is 1.062" the Ruger's is 1" so any Rem takeoff can be machined to fit Ruger. I do it all the time.

The recess in end of Rem barrel gets faced off. Then shank diameter is reduced to 1" and rethreaded. Once that is done existing chamber is chased with reamer. Usually the removal of bolt recess is enough for new reamer to totally clean up the chamber.

While I do this stuff myself it wouldn't cost that much for a gunsmith to do this work for you. A lot less than a new barrel plus the gunsmithing.
