Father-in-law just gave me a Winchester XTR Featherweight in .257 Roberts AI. With the spacer in the magazine box, one is limited with SAAMI OAL. If loading higher bc boat tails, the bullet really has to jump to reach the lands.
So, I want to lengthen the action to accept loaded cartridges to the length of the parent case, the 7x57. To do this, would it just be replacing the magazine box with one for the 7x57 and installing the proper bolt stop?

Thanks,
Jim
The bolt stop will stay the same.

Spacer can be removed and cut to length and soldered back in place.

Or use Barnes bullets. They really like at least .050 jump or more and shoot really good and kill like lightening.
I have always been able to make a rifle shoot more than acceptable hunting accuracy at magazine length...som times it takes some different component combinations...

I would pop that spacer out and never look back but that's just me. GD
