Got a remington 700 barrel in a magnum contour...would like to fit it to my savage action. Anyone happen to know the dimensions?

Pretty sure standard chambering savage barrels are smaller in diameter than remington and I Should be able to have this turned and threaded for the savage action.

No, you won't. Both the Savage and the Remington are nominally 1 1/16" but the Remington is 16 tpi while the savage is 20 tpi. The Savage barrel threads are usually 1.055" in diameter but the threads are flat topped. If one wants to fit a Remington barrel to a Savage, it would be best to turn the Remington tenon down to 15/16 (.937), thread it to 24 tpi, then intall a sleeve over these threads and loc-tite it in place. The sleeve is then turned and threaded to fit the Savage; with or without the nut. It will also be necessary to face off the Remington counterbore. I have used this technique to fit dozens of barrels to actions other than what they were made for. Ruger/mauser, Winchester/Remington, Ruger/ Remington, Mauser/P14, and the list goes on. GD
