Here’s how the Covid madness hit me....

January = Found a nice Win 1895 30.06 Takedown.

June = Found a nice Marlin 1895 45-70

September = Brought home a Henry Big Boy in 45 Colt

Back in the lever game after a long absence.....
240 welcome back!
My favorite calibers in Lever are my 45 and 32-20.
My Browning 450 Marlin stomps me to death, I’d love to try a 45-70 to see if it’s easier on my old shoulder.
Enjoy
I don’t really notice recoil of the 45-70. I generally shoot the cowboy action rounds and have shot the federal 300 grain hunting rounds with no issues. I haven’t shot it from the bench and shoot it from a standing or sitting positions using a Bog Pod. I just ride along with the recoil. It’s more of a shove not a sharp hit. That 400 grain Cowboy Action lead Bullet will kill anything I hunt with it.

I may have the barrel threaded for a Rugged suppressor I have sitting in suppressor timeout. I can see a early 21 pig hunt with a suppressed 45-70 and a thermal on a lever action......
One beauty of the .45-70 is the great variety of factory ammo available. As Paco Kelly said "From Elves to Elephants".

Naturally, if the shooter hand loads, the possible load variety approaches infinity.
This little piggie (a 300 pound boar ) was taken with a 300 grain bullet loaded to 1600 fps and the recoil is almost zero.
