After buying a couple boxes because they were the cheapest available, I'm reading the the Hornady is a tougher bullet that is probably better suited to the higher velocity 35's. But the conclusion I did come to was that at the ranges I an on shooting this rifle at with iron sights (less than 100yds) I should be ok as speed will be enough. Anyone here with experience?
Only one deer with that bullet, distance was 20-25 yards. It turned everything inside to jelly. The buck raised up on its hind legs at the shot and fell over backwards.
The round nose works fine in the 35 Rem, it might be a little on the stout side but only a little. The 200 gr spire point is tougher but it has worked fine in the 35 for me. By itself, a 35 caliber hole through the vitals is pretty effective in its own right so I am not too concerned with expansion.
