I came across a Marlin 1894P .44 Mag. today. The gun was complete and original. It was made in 2000 and is ported. Wood was very good as well as most of the blueing. The bad new is that the last half of the barrel has rust spots in quite a few spots. I could probably get most of it off, but I'm sure that will leave bare spots and possibly some pitting.

The good news from what I see these going for, is that his asking price is $600.00. I'm sure that is a reflection of the condition.

The help I'm asking for is opinions on is this model worth the asking price in this condition. Also would you, if it was yours, simply clean it as well as possible and rock on, or have it re-blued?
If i was in the market for one i don't think it seems out of bounds for what you say it looks like.

Have you or will you get a chance to shoot it?
At going prices $600 seems like a good deal. I would have to see the results of the cleanup before I decide. I prefer to keep factory bluing unless it’s really bad.
I have two of these little gems For $600 BUY IT YESTERDAY LOL one is factory original One is set up with a holo sun for close range tree stand hunting love em Short light and a deer thumper I wouldn’t reblue Clean her up and hunt and enjoy it
If the bore is good and you can run snap caps through it flawlessly....BUY IT! You’re probably never going to find another for that price. Extremely handy for a ranch/saddle gun or for tree stand/tracking gun.

Absolutely love mine and will be one of the last to go.(if ever!)
Thanks, Tom

Ported ones will bring a small premium because they were shortly discontinued. Ear breakers and flame throwers. Clean it. And keep an eye out for a barrel.
Appreciate all the responses, but this question was posed three months ago. I didn't like the condition of the gun and decided I didn't want to have to set up for loading 44 magnum.

Since that time, I've bought three other levers that suited me better.
