can anyone tell me what an excellent condition 336 .35 Remington might be worth. Found one in a local pawn shop in like new condition tapped for scope and it looks as though it has never been fired, but likely has. No scratches very clean and barrel looks spotless. Their asking 225.00 for it and i think its prob a good deal. Any help with what this may be worth

I thought it was a good deal but checking here to see what alot of you knowledgeable guys think. I think I'm going to try to tlk him down to 185.00 or trade my 1984 44mag in for it straight trade. I let a .35 rem go given to me and regret it now since the new hornady bullets came out but at least it he doesnt bite on lowering the price the new 44 mag hornady's should be avail. soon and they are going to be at least a secure 150 to 200 yrd bullet is my thought any insite on them.

If that 35 Rem is the old pre-cross bolt safety and has a gold trigger, you'd better scarf it up. I just paid $325.00 for 1 that came out of some guys closet that wasn't even shot. That's an awesome price. They are rare to find in really good shape. Most have alot of handling marks & dings.

Try to talk them down but if they don't budge, buy it anyhow.

Don't trade your 1894 in 44 Mag for it as at least what I've seen the 1894's are valued higher than any Marlin 336, so you'd be getting the bad end of the deal if you made the trade.

I agree with flyingfool that you shouldn't use the 44 mag for trade. If you want a heck of pair, purchase a ruger redhawk 5" stainless or blue in 44 mag. Think of it, a handgun / lever gun combo. Reloads would fit either. I have the 336 35 Rem lever with a T/C Contender 14" with muzzle brake in 35 Rem. Quite the pair. Just think of black bear over bait with the Contender.

I'd buy it. I think everyone needs a 336 in either 30/30, or better yet 35 Rem. I'm looking for one myself. Should be a fun cartridge to reload and shoot.

As far as trading your 44mag, it doesn't matter what you trade, you always loose when trying to trade with a gun dealer. You would be better off to sell the 44 outright to someone. As far as trading goes, you need to ask yourself do you like the 44mag and does it work good, many don't, and are known for being jammers. If you like it and it works good, keep it, and buy the 35 Rem outright.

Keep the 44 mag. They are getting scarce! Pay what you have to for the 35 Rem. You'll be glad you did.

Don't wait. Buy the .35 then sell the .44 somewhere else. For a knock around piece, pick up a .357 Marlin or Rossi and you're set.

around here, $225 is a steal for a .35 Remington 336. I paid $300 at a gun show for mine, and was happy with the price.

I do have the super redhawk 44mag with 7" barrel to go with the 44mag lever but hardly ever hunt with the pistol as i'm not confident enough with it yet and the rifle hasn't missed yet lol. thx for all the input I'm going to keep the 44 and just buy the 35 rem although i dont really need it, lol.

I would paid the price for it if I'm getting a what I want. Have you consider purchasing a new one. the barrel twist may be different to a commodate the new horndy leverevolution cartridge.

The Marlin 336 chambered in 35 Remington, just kind of fell into my hands after a good friend was murdered a few years ago, and now is my go to rifle for deer. I am actually putting my 30-30 up for sale, because after using the 35 there is no need for the 30-30 anylonger. The 35 kind of became one of those rifles that can do no wrong. If a deer or hog get in its way, Its an almost automatic that we will have deer or hog on the grill shortly. It is one of the rifles that I have that instills an almost lofty arrogance about it. I point, aim, shoot then try to talk somebody else into field dressing.It's place is right next to my Browing 71, which says alot.

You'd be very smart to keep the 44 mag....if you don't want it sell it outright...

I've got a 336 in .35 Rem and after owning it 2 years it's my favorite rifle. I know this post was started over two months ago, but I sure as hell hope you bought the thing, it's an incredible rifle/caliber and $225 is an absolute steal.

The 336 in 35 Rem is indeed a fun and useful rifle. I load mine at hand gun velocity on up to almost 358 Win. velocity.
