I recently came into possesion of a Model 94 in 32 Win Special--definatly a pre-64--got 2 boxes of shells with it but the boxes are old Dominion Shells and on the box it says 32 Remington SP--170 grain. The shells are about the same size as a 30-30 but they don't have a rim on the bottom. These ain't the right shells are they?
'nother thing--the guy I got the rifle from told me they had fired a few 30-30 shells thru it. Is that even possible?? It sure can't be a safe thing to do.

No, 32 Rem is not the correct ammo, It's 32 Win. Special. It looks exactly like 30-30 ammo. And firing 30-30 ammo in a 32 WS is safe, I have done it myself, accidentally. The .30 Cal bullet is .015 under sized so it does no harm but accuracy is almost non-existent.

Thank you Mr Bledsoe. I tried to push a 32 rem shell into the chamber with my finger and knew that it just wasn't right. A 30-30 shell fits right in and I can see how it would be easy to mix up the shells. I'll get the proper ammo and see how she shoots.

Hey K-Mann: 32 Rems are for the semi Rem.Mdl 08 & 81; Rem.14 & 141 pumps; and a couple of makes of bolts... Might be others. If boxes are full & Gd. Cond. you could swap 1 box 32 Rems for 2 bxs of 32 Spl.. Kinda hard to find. ... 99 LL ...

Thanks 99--the shells and the boxes really are in good shootable condition even though Dominion hasn't been around for a while. I never heard of them but maybe they are something like the old .303 Savage.

The .32 Remington cartridge was Remington's "answer" for shooter & hunters wanting a .32, in a Remington repeater - it's basically a rimless .32 Special, ballistically speaking.

Remington also produced the similar .30 Remington, a .30-30 ballistic twin, for .30 cal fans.

I think the .303 Savage, while a ballistic twin of the .30-30, might have used slightly different diameter bullets.

What I meant by the .303 Savage was that if you don't reload finding shells to shoot is very hard.
