I brought it home today. My father had it from as early as I can remember A older friend of his left it with him saying if he ever wanted it back he would come and get it. He never took it away . I never seen my dad or anyone shoot it. Looked up the serial number (manufactured in 1910) Cleaned it today and ordered dies. The bore does not look good the bluing is maybe half and there is rust and scratches. In short it has been used hard. But I am going to make some ammunition and have some fun shooting it.

Awesome! Mine was made in 1906 and I dearly love it. 10 grs of either H4198 or RL 7 behind an 86 gr. bullet will work wonders! I've killed a pile of small game from mine. One inch 50 yard groups should be acheivable if the bore is not too bad.

Its the rifle in the middle of my saddle rig (model '94 on the left and model 71 on the right)

PM me if you want to discuss how to polish the bore. Its really JB (Mule Deer's recipe). If its really bad, I have some other suggestions.

The 25-20 is one of my favorites, I have several of them. I shoot a lot of cast loads out of mine and really like the Speer 75 gr JFP for my later guns and Savage 23 bolt action. They are accurate and if the bore is heavily pitted, won't foul like the cast loads will. All of my rifles will hover in the one inch area for 5 shot groups at 50 yds. Look at powders like 2400, Green Dot and Unique. My cast bullets are 86 grains from R&R bullets out of Nebraska. Enjoy the rifle. Ryan
