I am also interested in the accuracy once the scope is mounted. It does lock up snug and secure. I have heard that changing point of aim is not a problem.

Yes, the new BLR's have aluminum receiver.

How good is the trigger?

BLR's I've handled in the past had less than desirable triggers. Was wondering if they had improved it.

I worked with one, once. Didn't help it that much.

I wonder if there are smiths out there who know the BLR trigger and can make it better.

I have a nearly identical .358 Win. Love it.

Rare is the smith who can work with a BLR trigger, but they are out there. Just make sure they have experience with them.

Have one in 7mm-08, the trigger was heavy on when I got but had it worked on & now breaks at 3 lb's. Love it !!!!!!!!!

I'm also trying to decide wether to install the sling swivels myself or have a gunsmith do it. I don't understand why Browning would sell a hunting rifle without sling swivels factory installed.

Just to help out anyone else trying to put sling swivels on a Browning BLR TD "takedown", the Uncke Mike's kit made for all BLR's "except lightening models" will not fit. The kit requires the front sling swivel to replace the spacer on the front of the forearm. The takedown model has no such spacer. I bought a different Uncle Mike's kit that has a 3/4 inch wood screw for the rear and a 1/2 inch wood screw for the front. I was going to install it myself but decided to send it to a gunsmith with the proper tools for $25.00.

I guess my confusion came from the term "lightening models", since Browning doesn't use that term to describe any of their current BLR models. I only see one current BLR sold by Browning that has the spacer on the forarm, the BLR Lightweight 81. Maybe Lightening Model is any BLR made with an aluminum receiver.

Nice rifle:) I own BLR's in .308 and .358. Other people have told me to avoid them in longer rounds such as the 30-06. Do you think the lever travel is excessive to work when chambering or ejecting a round?

I haven't even shot it yet but it doesn't seem long when working the action.

That rifle begs a straight 6 power leupold!
