I now have a very nice Mod. 94 in .356 Win. Does any one have any real stories about critter killing on critters bigger then deer? Loads and bullets used and shot distance please.

I've been using them since they came out, currently have 3, a trapper, 1 built on a 375 top eject action and a 24 in barrel version. Have tried several bullets and have settled on factory 200gr when not in brown bear territory, 250gr Kodiaks over imr 4064 when hunting moose or in brown bear country. The Kodiaks open up on deer, are very accurate and hold together/penetrate well on larger game. Have predominantly taken most shots under 200yds as hunt rain forest for most part. One unique trait is all bullets used hit same point of aim at 100yds. Found the hard way that the 250gr power points do not open up unless shoot shoulder even on brown bear. Recommend peep sights with a narrow front sight.

Thanks for the info 'Marak". I have a bunch of the 220 grain Speer FN and 100 of the 250 grain Kodiak 250 grain bullets. Me and another guy recently asked Alaska Bullet Works to make up some 220 or 225 grain bullets for the .356 Win. If you are interested you could give them a shout. I am in Kenai and mainly hunt the same moose our many brown bear hunt.

Do you happen to know your velocity with the big Kodiaks? Sent you a PM about brass.

I think a 200 or 225gr Kodiak would be perfect, I'll give him another call. I'm estimating 2150fps,will chronograph soon, going to load up some with varget and h335 see if can up the velocity and still get good accuracy.

Been looking for a 356 for years now....they are hard to find here. A friend saw a nice one at a gun show in BC last spring. He now has my permission to spend my money if he ever sees another.

Don’t know the possibilities of sending a gun from Canada to the USA, but for $250 JES will rebore a Marlin 30 30 into a 356.

Ad on Armslist lists 2 .356, take your pick.

Shipping to Canada would be another thread, I suspect.
