I'm looking for some input for a smaller tent than our groups wall tent but big enough for 3 guys and cots , I'm trying to decide between a seek outside courthouse or a redcliff or 6 man tipi . I will be getting a stove too.
Does anyone have any input ? Thanks

With 3 guys on cots and a stove I would get an 8 man tipi. Cots and the stove plus gear will take up plenty of space.

805 , yes , that's probably a better choice, I was just worried about a bigger footprint to set up. Our normal elk camp location it would work fine . We were going to take along a couple of tarps for rainflys and to cover extra gear

Thanks

The 6 man vs 8 man is only 2ft difference in diameter. Checkout the rokslide forum for lots of info on Shelters. Also I’d call Seek outside. They are very helpful.
If you have the low cots, maybe the 8-man. If taller cots like military style, think 12-man.

Here's a couple pics of our 12-man Seek Outside. Just the wife and I. Cots on one side, table, dog bed, and wood pile on the other side. You could fit four tall cots in there if you wanted to....two on each side.

MM ,
yes , we use full size cots , those low ones are tough for me to roll out of and it's a lot easier to put your boots on sitting on a full size cot . I see there's not a lot of price difference.
Thanks

I hear ya. The tall cots also give space underneath to help keep things organized.

i will agree with the above. anything over 2 guys with cots and a stove...get an 8 man or bigger. keep in mind if you are creative you can make a decent vestibule for a tipi with a couple of tarps. in fact Seek has a your tube video on how to do just that.

i should add that you may be ok with the "normal" cots if you also guy out the higher points on the 8 man increasing verticle wall space

12 man for 3 and cots.

even with out cots you will be better off with the 12 or the courthouse. 3 fit ok in an 8 man without cots but 3 in a six is just an emergency.

i have had two 8 man tipis and sold them. i keep a six for 2 guys when weight is a factor and a 12 if weight if not a factor or there is more than 2 guys.

build a mock up of an 8 man with string or rope and a cheap tarp. duplicate the measurements around a post or power pole by staking out the string. it give you an idea of the size if you cant find one to see in person.
We also have a 6-man and a 12-man tipi. Haven't had an 8.

I did a fitment check one day with the 6-man, two cots, and a Nu-Way stove. It can be done, but pretty tight.

I have an 8-man and a Courthouse.

The Courthouse is made for three cots.
