Thinking they'd be nice around camp/sleeping/glassing.

around campfires or in camp if its cold i put on my wool bibs and muck boots , sorry but i live in Northern Minnesota so most of us just get use to the cold weather rather we like it or not ,its just part of my life. i have no down clothes because as a linemen for 35 years down is dangerous around flames and fires , i would not recommend buying any down clothes for camp use. good luck ,Pete53

I've got the Kuiu down equivalent - it's good for sitting and watching, but it sucks for moving for me - as I start overheating pretty quick.

The Kuiu outer layer material is Ok, but I wouldn't call it tough and rough durable, it's meant to be under another layer if you can - or taken off if you have move out on a stalk.

I've tried the Sitka down bibs and parka, they're good for about an hour or two on the stand, then you need to move bit to warm up.

The Sitka shell is Goretex with the brushed finish - it's quiet, but pretty durable.

I have used the WM Flight pants for 2 winters and they are awesome for glassing and calling in serious cold and wind. Standing around fires in good down gear is best avoided. Check out the Mt. Hardware Compressor pants, they are synthetic and about 1/2 the price and work well for most things.

Thanks for the info. guys, won't be around any open flames while in ultra-lite down clothing.

Going to stick with the WM Made in USA, flight pants and booties combined 9.5oz., the Mtn. Hardware look good but @ 1lb.11oz. little heavy for the back 40 of the Frank Church wilderness.
