Thanks for the heads up on these. I have a couple from amazon, but always looking for a better product or price....this may be both!

A couple years ago Costco had similar long sleeved ones for $20. I bought 8. I would have got more but that's all they had in my size. They haven't carried them since. I love those things.

I bought 1. Wish I stocked up. Heck of a deal

Do they make you itch? Especially if you start sweating a little.

I’ll take a look - thanks!!

Not me. They're great to wear on multi day back country trips as they don't stink even after a few days. Comfortable in hot and insulate well in cold weather. Dry out fairly quickly. Not as fast as synthetic.

Im a big fan and can't beat this price

I bought one a couple weeks ago. I’m pretty sensitive to itch and I can wear this pretty comfortably. I’m thinking I’m gonna try some alpaca wool when I get a chance.

Thanks for posting - I hadn't seen these before but they do sound interesting so just ordered a couple to try out.

Edit: in looking at the posted link again, the product overview says long sleeve but everywhere else in the listing says short sleeve. I guess I'll find out which it is when they arrive, but am presuming short sleeve...

Regular wool has microscopic barbs on the fibers that cause the itch. Merino wool has far fewer of them so itch is greatly reduced. Those barbs are also what makes wool so susceptible to shrinking when washed. The barbs lock together and won't come apart. That pulls the fibers closer together and makes the garment smaller. I've washed and dried my merino shirts many times with no shrinkage at all.

With wool garments I don't put them in a washing machine. Just soak them in a bucket in cold water for a day or two when they need washing with a very small amount of detergent, then rinse and let drip dry. Don't use a clothes dryer. They don't shrink if you do this and last a long time.

I find that my Merino t-shirts itch just a bit until I get a sweat going. Dry skin I suppose.

I like a lightweight T shirt under a mid-weight long-sleeve, or 1/4 zip for layering,
Change out the T-shirt & boxers after a day or two.

With daily sponge baths etc. of course.

For higher intensity sweat intensive activities like XC skiing, I still prefer layering synthetic grid fleece of appropriate weights for the temperatures encountered.

But nothing beats the comfort of Merino.

Rock - Good to know, I’m going barbless 🥴

At the price of these garments cost, It’s well worth taking precautions for longevity.

I bought a few t-shirts, for myself and my son on a product intro promo deal a few years back.

He complained that his was itchy and refused to wear it.
Of course it was a couple sizes too small for me, but I still have mine in XXL .
I’d like to find his and make a neck tube, or bandana of it, Ha

Gentle washing is very worthwhile !

Cheers

A drier is harder on wool than the washer. The tumbling really locks the fibers together to shrink stuff.

I saw the merino long sleeves @ Costco in Fairbanks for $16?. Tossed two in my cart thinking I’ll try them. A bit later went back and got two more knowing the ephemeral nature of Costco specials. Glad I did.

I wash them in the washer regular cycle. Lay them out on the wire clothes rack in the furnace room to dry.

Works great (they dry quickly), and zero problems.

I wear those Costco t-shirts all winter under a lightweight fleece vest.

Thank you. I've been looking for one of these at a good price. So I just bought two. Thanks.

wool lite fabric detergent is my go to for dirty wool laundry. Hand wash, spin rinse in the washer and then dry on a drying rack. Heat for drying is not good for wool.

Is that why my Costco wool socks shrink more the older they get and with more washing. They usually stretch back after I have them on for a while

Probably. Try hang drying them to see if they shrink. Supposedly the tumbling in the drier is harder on them than washing. I have a dozen pairs of Costco socks that get washed and dried regularly without shrinking. It's all I wear in the winter...on my feet that is.
