I like my Kifaru Spike Camp, I have an older one. Lot's of room, holds a bladder, good profile, reversible soft fleece panels for the outside, and the Gunbearer for carrying a rifle hands-free.

Hard to say anything bad about the spike Camp! I bought the Horn Hunter Full Curl combo last year and love it for everything from day hunts to week trips. USA made as well which matters to me. For the money and if no hauling the Camelback day packs are well made and niceley laid out.

Nimrod pack. Made here in Washington state. Comfortable, quiet. Lots of pockets, and very versatile. The top part can be detached, leaving me with just the waist pack & suspenders for smaller loads. I keep the top part empty except for a game bag and a water bladder, leaving room for boned out meat.

Sold off my x1 as they don't carry weight very well and didn't like the scabbard hitting my legs going down hills. I added a leather scabbard to my Crew Cab and works much better. Maybe more robust then what your are looking for as it is hefty.

Worked fine in September packing a moose font shoulder to the truck. Thankfuly the game cart was in the truck, so the rest of the moose got to roll home.

Dana Big Horn I picked up cheap on CL was great. Took a break at a great spot above a river we crossed every day. Had to be prepared to spend the night or pack out an elk. Loved the way it seemed to fold inward with a light load. When I packed out camp it amazed me just how much volume it had.

Comfy as they come and the frame handles the weight better than both Badlands packs I have owned as well as being quite a bit larger and lighter. But they are not for sale anymore. Just over 3 pounds. Handles 60 lbs quite well.

I love my Gregory Z35. It fits me perfect, is light, and yet is overnight/meat capable.

What Smokepole said, Kifaru Spike Camp w/ Gun Bearer. It can be modified with outside pockets as desired. I've got one on it's left side, but not the right side, for instance. It will carry far more weight than I'll ever need. No problems when trying to sneak through heavy cover either. E

My day pack is the same as my overnight pack. Kifaru Longhunter. I'll still have a few mile pack out on a day hunt, so I want something that can handle a load.

It has a 35l capactity which is approx 2100cubic inches and retails for the equivalent of $100 to $120 in most places over here, but would be a bit cheaper if sent to the US as the retailer should be knock off the VAT (sales tax)..

That is an interesting pack, I might have to look into it. It does not say what kind of a frame they have if any?

I have the smaller Delta 25 (same basic design) and that doesn't have a frame so I presume the 35 doesn't either.

Be aware that there are now two "Karrimor" involved in outdoor gear here in the UK. "Karrimor" is focused on the general outdoor market and covers everything from the cheap end up to decent quality items.

"Karrimor SF" is a "spin off" company now run separately and markets more for the Military and Police. Personally I think the quality of their kit is higher than the civilian brand, and they will also do bespoke work as well..

Aside from being alittle heavy I'd take my Blacks Creek Alaskan to hell and back and wouldn't worry about it.. In all Honestly it handles an elk quarter better than any pack I've ever owned.. Boned out meat, well thats a different story. But Meat on the bone elk quarter and I'm a happy camper!

Last years bull, as you can see head and horns, rifle, one front quarter and backstraps.. I wish I had a Pack in Mtn Bike mode pic as I'll put barrell into water bottle holder the strap around my scope goes under the front of scope and strapped down for hands free carry.. Can hit the breaks jump off reach over shoulder and grab rifle, chamber and shoot.. Hands free into and outa woods in the dark.

Kifaru makes a universal Gun Bearer that can also be run on any pack.. I like the Gun Bearer

I run a Badlands 2200. It has a gunsling for the pack outs if wanted. Meat sling, bladder pouch, spotter pouch, tripod holder, ect.... By far the feature I like most is the back zippered panel. I use it several times each day getting into the pack.

I use a scabbard of my own making (about 10 oz.) but before that used a Nimrod scabbard (a bit over a pound).

I use it on overnight spike camp excursions and day trips. It will do 45# comfy, and has done 80# several times on the way out and survived. Much over 45 and the aluminum stays flex too much to support the load. It basicaly turns into a frameless pack at that point.

I've come out with 1/2 a boned muley, day gear, maybe 5 miles (2x), 2 fronts and a hind quarter bone in off mule deer, day gear, maybe 1.5 miles (2x), Boned out sitka, overnight gear maybe 7 miles (1x). 1 hind quarter bone in, head and cape, day gear, maybe 2 miles (1x). Lots of lighter stuff also. Its not comfy with a 60+ pound load, but it gets it done.

I've yet to see a tested better option, but my buddies Kuiu pack looks promising and its much lighter. Will let him punish it a bit more before I decide on that one.

All I do are day hunts and have been very happy with a MR Bighorn.
Only used it 2 years, 1 antelope and 2 fairly large bodied mule deer(boned out/1 trip each).

Spotter on one side, tripod on the other in the pockets.
I rigged up another pocket on the belt for a camera/gps and attached a laser case on the other side. Works very well.

Packed out about 80-90lbs(?) over 3.5 miles this past Fall with a boned out deer. Luckily it was an easy walk and I(out of shape) sure as hell felt it the next day....grin

Thanks. Me too. Ruger in .375 H&H with a 1.5-5x Leupold, sighted in at 200 yards using 260 gr Nosler Accubonds at about 2620 fps. Roughly MOA accuracy, and sure did a fine job on a bear last year.
