Just saw this tent and it looks like a good prospect for a free standing tent with a stove! Its a little heavy but pretty intriguing...

Looks interesting but I didn't see anything about a stove jack. Did I miss something?

KC

Nope thats why I said a good prospect, SL5 doesn't come with a stove jack...

VERY interesting except for the weight. Really seems like the "fastpack" weight would be less, but maybe I'm not visualizing the size well.
They make a lighter version that is just over 6lbs. With the steeper side walls there would be more usable space than a tipi and winter camping it would be nice to have the sleeping area as a barrier to help keep gear dry.
that looks pretty cool, lots of potential there. Kind of a best of both worlds approach

Mountain Hardwear has a couple of interesting single-pole offerings this year:

the Mtn Hdwr Hoopla

Hoopsta
I know a few guys who pack in a version of this each year and hunt elk out of it with a stove. No cots, they just like the ability to stand up.

Thanks for the link! That might make for an interesting alternative to a wall tent and it'd be lighter and smaller to store.
