That looks awesome, cool concept

I am wondering how you refill the wyo boiler when the stove pipe is hot? Can't exzactly tell from the pic.
Posted By: Diyelker Re: in line water boiler - 02/15/14
Very interesting. Weights? Do you have a vid you can show us?
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/15/14
filling the boiler is easy. there is a fill hole right behind the stove pipe that cant be seen in that picture.

i am making a demo vid. this week.
weight is about 2 lbs. since it is stainless. working on a ti version but it will not be ready for a while.

this is the first proto version and we are working on several mods and improvements for the production units.

I dunno but I'm sure mini-channel-locs would be the ticket:)
Posted By: Rock Chuck Re: in line water boiler - 02/16/14
I bet you get a shot of really hot steam when the water hits that hot pipe.

YES!

I have a pair of 16" channel locks that I found lying in the road many years ago. You can get a serious grip with them but the problem is that they weigh more than that stove does.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/16/14
we are also building one of these with a cork stopper at the valve location for less hassle and more durable packing

titanium version to come asap...

Posted By: Ed_T Re: in line water boiler - 02/16/14
Nice job Wham. What you guestimate the ti version? Around 18-20 oz?
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/16/14
the steel is 36 oz. so the ti will be at least a lb. lighter... still trying to source parts.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/17/14
there is also a bigger version of this in the works for woodstoves with 6 and 8 inch chimney pipe for the house.
Posted By: snubbie Re: in line water boiler - 02/17/14
I assume there is some type of pressure relief valve or it is otherwise not sealed up?
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/17/14
there is a blowout pressure release so that this will not become a bomb.

this can be burned dry since it is stainless but an aluminum one will have to kept full to avoid meltdown
Posted By: Rock Chuck Re: in line water boiler - 02/18/14
I've seen a number of photos of water heater explosions. It definitely makes you check the popoff valve on your heater. It can literally level a house.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 02/19/14
i have boiled this one dry and no pressure builds whatsoever
it is safe to use but the tent needs to have good venting in order for the steam vapor to escape. unless you want a sweat lodge

Are you actually cooking directly on the stove top??? Not that it won't work but doesn't it make a mess?

no mess, it just makes the inside of the tent smell good for a while, it all comes out in the wash. plus it seasons the stove
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 03/24/14
plus i dont have to pack a frying pan

Pardon me for my ignorance, why is that better than a billy on the stove top?
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
because some people like their koolaid hot and fast and still be able to fry up burgers and spuds in short order
Posted By: JSTUART Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
Fair enough, I have never seen anyone use such a heater here, but then most of us have never seen your weather.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
not to worry brother.... it is a concept that some may find redundant or foolish. but once you have a qt. of water boiling in 2 minutes, it makes you a believer.
Posted By: JSTUART Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
We are still at the point where a chair in camp is viewed as being a bit swish and a bloke with a tent is a poser.

I suspect that a touch of your snow would put paid to that quick smart.

In general, that sounds about right. But it's not so much the snow as it is the below zero (F) temps that make a stove worth the weight.
Posted By: JSTUART Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
Don't worry about zero, I am with you when it gets below 20 Celsius.
Posted By: smokepole Re: in line water boiler - 04/17/14
If I knew how cold that was, I could comment.....

20 Celsius = 68.00 Fahrenheit

See...cold!

The folding wyo stoves will have a built in grill insert for grilling as well

When I'm packing with my 4 legged friends, they carry a folding privy seat. I won't turn down the luxuries when I can get them.

The older I get the more I like your system.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 04/19/14

Posted By: smokepole Re: in line water boiler - 04/25/14
So, how's that hing work, as far as, does it draft good and not smoke up the tent when you have it opened up like that to grill?

Looks solid, what's it weigh?
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 04/25/14
pre burning is a good idea to get used to the stove... it will smoke while you are grilling but that is pretty normal.
the stove weighs 4 lbs. and the boiler weighs 16 oz.

just made some of the triangle stoves with the grill top. it weighs 2 and a half pounds in the bag.

Whambasted ,
You build some cool stuff ---but you use to be a lot more fun..Just saying.
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 05/29/14
i am still a lot of fun
like a turd in the punch bowl
Posted By: whambasted Re: in line water boiler - 05/29/14
but i do know how to start a [bleep] storm.
my stove is easier and faster and burns more efficient than any of the stoves on the market hands down.
sets up in 5 seconds and burn time is 4 hrs. plus.
no loose pieces to forget or get lost.
simply the best but what would you expect from a wyoming company?
