Anyone know who the USA dealer is now . I bought a pair from Lathrop and sons but they are no longer a dealer and I need repair work . An internet search found that they wont accept from the general public and that I need to send them back through a dealer. Their website sux the is no way to locate a dealer on their site or do much of anything else for that matter.

AJ Brooks in Canada might be able to help you...They also have a web-site....

You might try Hoffman's Boots of Kellogg, Idaho - I see now they are selling Lowa boots, not Meindles, but they used to sell Miendles - they were allowed to sell them as long they were 'corking' them, as Cabelas was an exclusive dealer. They may be able to do the work you need. They are very good.

Buy the Cabelas Meindl's you will have a better chance getting them warranted if need be !

Hoffmans can't do it and suggested I call Meindl . AJ brooks recommended a boot repair guy in Vancoover. I have to email him pictures.

Meindl wont even talk to a customer , they told me to contact a dealer. Good thing I have a pair of Lowa gtx for back up I guess. smile
Any luck getting service?

Mike
For repairs Cabela's recommends:

Goldstar Shoe Rebuilders in Vancouver,British Columbia, Canada, Eh!

1-800-565-7477

Their Facebook page when googled shows 1-604-734-7477

I pulled my pair out of the closet, they are too hot for most of my Georgia Hunting so have only been used 4-5 times in last 10-15 years and the cushion in the soles is dry rotted.

I will let y'all know what transpires.

Mike

Canada said too expensive eh!

Try Dave Paige Cobbler in Seattle or Rocky Mountain resole in Colorado.

Will update

$17 return shipping and $65 bucks to do a rubber resole with Vibram.

I have used David Page here in Seattle. I had a pair of Danners that the knobs had torn off the bottom of the tread. I talked to Danner and they said they are glue on soles and not intended to be repaired - sorry. I took them to Dave and he said hold on a sec… went up to his stock room, came back with a pair of Vibram soles, matched them upo and said, "Give me a few days." I picked them up a week later and paid something like 35$. They are STILL holding tight (although the goretex has gone). This was 2004. David does great work and is highly regarded by climbers etc.
Got mine back today from Rocky Mountain Resole they look great!

The sole is pretty stiff with good tread will get them home and strung up hopefully get them tested out in the next few weeks.

Another Meindl fail? I take it these were not from Cabelas.
Talus

Not sure if that is directed to me or Wildone mine are from Cabela's.

I'll never buy Meindl boots again. I purchased two pair, both of which had the exact same problem. The soles crumbled and fell apart with little to no use. The boots were not in sunlight, not in heat, and I consider the flaw to be Meindls. Cabelas where I bought them basically told me tough luck...you need to contact Meindl directly, which as pointed out is near impossible. I ended up tossing both pair in the garbage, and they were like new. I have one pair left, and now cross my fingers each time I put them on that the soles will not crumble to bread crumbs. Take heed anyone considering buying these boots. I never will again.

My bad. The OP already said his boots were from Lathrop. I lapsed into my simmering Cabelas/Meindl rant ... smile

No more Meindls for me and probably no more Cabela's boots either.

Drews Boots in Bend Oregon will do them...

I had a pair of these boots take a dump on me this fall. I bought them from Cabela's Like others have said, they had little use. I had taken good care of them. They look like the sole just rotted off.
I'm glad I had other boots for my hunt.

I have had three pairs of Meindl boots have the soles crumble.

One pair I had used in Tanzania, one pair virtually unused at my place in Singapore and the other pair in Borneo. One pair was a replacement for the first pair that failed.

It seems warm - hot humid weather will do it. I still have a pair in moderate climate in Australia that are doing ok.

Won't buy with that type of sole at again. I have other shoes that have had the soles fail in Singapore.

Cheers, Chris

You must have a cobbler near you. There are at least 5 in my area. 60 bux is the going rate for a new vibram sole of your choice.

Guys, I'd like to see the soles in question.

If I'm not mistaken, not all Cabela's Meindl's are the same?

Different grades/different soles, yes?
I could only provide an after pic, but they say Made in Germany, 18315 BC II,

Cabela's by Meindl, Thuinsulate, gore-tex etc.

For you guys going away from Meindl's, what are you going to?

I had a pair of the original Hunters which lasted a very long time for me (~5 years, hunts only). They did eventually fail when the sole started to separate. I replaced them with the German made Hiker model which is not holding up like the older ones did. The leather seems much less durable. I have not found another boot which fits as good or offers as much ankle support as the Meindl Hunters, but am reluctant to lay another $300 down if they dont hold up anymore.
