Just picked one up at the LGS. Now to find ammo for it at a reasonable price! smile smile smile

Nice.

I was fixin to buy one. I asked the tard behind the counter if they had any ammunition for it, he said no. I said no point then.

I did the same but they gave me a good price so I walked out with it.

Looked on GB prices are crazy. I'll keep my eyes out who knows!

Nice.

However one would need brass to reload.

I need brass, powder, primers, bullets, and dies for it. frown

I really will one day buy a Ruger 57 and then look for dies and cases. I already load for a K Hornet. Be Well, RZ.

Yes I am going to have to get set up to reload them for sure. But that might take a little while!

That is what I do for my FN. True Blue is your huckleberry.

MCH',

Do you think the price was right due to lack of ammo or was it just a good deal?

I wouldn't reload for that round.

The first thing I asked when I saw it was do you have ammo for it. He said NO! So I am assuming he knew it was a hard sell.

I'll see how much I really end up shooting it.

Any first hand reports on accuracy vs the FN?

I think Big Stick is the only person that has rung one out.

A buddy just bought some 5.7 from Bud's at $110 per 50

I’ve kinda been kicking around the idea of buying one of the Ruger 57 Models. Be a neat little night time Truck Gun with a good light laser combo for shooting skunks and varmints at the Ranch.
My LGS actually has some ammo but no Pistol.

Still trying to decide between the Ruger 57 or The Springfield XD 10mm with the threaded barrel and suppressor tall sights that’s set up for the optic sight.

Have not shot the Ruger yet. Waiting on the ammo to arrive. I have never shot the FN so can't compare.
Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: Ruger 57 - 03/02/21
Got the ammo in today. It was a beautiful day out so I drove up the road to try the 5.7 out. Dam that thing is FUN! Have to get to range and hang some paper to shoot at. I am going to need more ammo!!!!!

It's not that bad fellas. A small PITA but doable.
Posted By: Fotis Re: Ruger 57 - 03/02/21
The FN is awesome.
Posted By: Oheremicus Re: Ruger 57 - 03/04/21
I'd say that depends..... I've done a fair amount of loading for the 5.7. One thing I really don't like is how far forward the shoulder of the case moves when factory ammo is fired. That has to weaken the case head area.
Considering the high pressures it's loaded to, and the very critical nature of the round, I'm not doing it anymore.
BTW, the ammo to get is the 27 gr. stuff. Head and shoulders above the 40 gr. factory ammo. E

I would think reloading that cartridge has to be meticulous.
