My wife and I both recently received our lifetime carry permits for Indiana. On the way to our son's basketball tournament we stopped by a large-ish local gun store to look at handguns. The counter guy showed her a few in 380 and 9mm (Glock, S&W, Taurus, Canik, etc) and really pushed the idea of a revolver for her. The standout for her was the S&W Shield in 380 with the EZ function. My wife really like how much easier it was to work than any other option available. From knowing my wife, I think I'll have a hard time getting her to buy anything else. I am somewhat ignorant when it comes to pistols. That said, are there others similar to the S&W EZ (comes in 380 and 9mm) that you would recommend we look at? Ease of racking the slide was a big selling point to her. This would be for in the purse/vehicle carry as well as for use at home.

Thanks in advance.
If that's what she wants, why fight her over it? They have, at least, been available, which is more than you can say about some of the others. I'd rather have the 9mm version, as the ammo is less costly and somewhat more available (Availability is a real thing right now). IIRC, the .380 and 9mm EZs are the same size, so there would be no liability in taking the 9mm.
Whittaker's and others have been running them on sale lately, so I know they just made a big run of them. They aren't pricey compared to others of like quality, so why not just get her the Smith?

EXACTLY!
I will in all likely hood be buying here the S&W EZ. She generally gets what she wants. Just didn't know if there are other, similar options to look a as well.
Get her the smith........Load it with extreme defenders from lehigh and done.
My wife tried several semiautos before settling on the EZ .380. Although there are others, none has the exact combo of features of the EZ, the most prominent being the easy racking. Another subtle design feature that can be attractive is its size, just big enough to get a good grip without being too much. That can be important to her liking to practice. I've known women who have a gun but don't like to shoot it. Of course if concealability is a priority, something smaller like the Ruger LCP might be preferable.

If she like the EZ, might as well get it and be done.
Sig is about to release a P365 in .380 that is supposed to be easier to rack than the 9mm version. With that said, the S&W .380 EZ is a good gun, and the longer barrel than most .380s really gets the most out of the ammo.
